Owned by the Outback Steakhouse group of restaurants, Bonefish Grill is the place to go for consistently good seafood at great prices. Most stores are good though I’ve eaten at some that are better than others.

Bonefish serves up daily specials of fresh fish with a variety of toppings, chicken dishes, burgers, fish tacos, filet mignon, sirloin steak and pasta. The starters include mussels, Bang Bang Shrimp, and a host of inexpensive small dishes that, with a salad, could suffice as a full meal.    My only complaint about any of the Bonefish Grill restaurants, is that they rarely, if ever, offer local seafood. Bulk buying makes fresh fish affordable at these chain restaurants; local purchasing precludes that.

Bonefish Grill in North Palm Beach, which sits in a shopping center as many do, is packed early in the evening with a lively lounge crowd for happy hour (4-7 p.m.). Many dine at high top tables or at the bar. A few tables are available on the patio. My recommendation is to dine in the lounge (full bar) or patio; the dining room is rather stark and uninteresting.

I recently dined on wild North Atlantic Haddock with artichokes, and feta cheese crumbles ($17) served with escarole, garbanzo beans, and mashed potatoes. The fish was fresh and prepared perfectly.  A crispy salad with their house citrus dressing and warm, crusty bread completed this inexpensive meal. Companion diner supped on crab cakes (about $14) and a salad. Just a tinge fishy (read: not fresh), this meal didn’t rank as high as the haddock.

Service is very good. Parking can be tight at this location after 7 pm.
