MOVED Jupiter Island Grill is usually busy during the season and I suggest it’s for one of two reasons: it draws snow bird neighbors from Jonathan’s Landing across the street who like to meet at their pleasant bar for cocktails and/or it’s one of the few places in Jupiter with early bird specials. That Jupiter Island Grill is not busy during the summer – like deadsville – when other places serve crowds in this town of few eateries may suggest the food is not great.
It’s not great – bad in fact. I supped on shrimp scampi recently that defied the traditional concept of shrimp sautéed in garlic, olive oil and lemon juice and had to settle for a dish of cheesy lukewarm risotto with tasteless, seemingly boiled shrimp (absent any garlic) stuck intermittently throughout ($28). Fellow diner ordered scallops served with cold risotto and a soupy sweet potato and maple syrup muddle ($28). That dish was sent back and returned reheated sans sweet potato and syrup with a few scallops added. Maple syrup and fish?? Both dishes tasted like they were pre-cooked and then reheated. What a mess and disappointment. There was something missing here and it wasn’t the chef. He (also an owner) was there that night. Stick with the bar menu; it’s hard to go wrong with hamburgers and finger food. I guess.
