Sept 21

It doesn’t look like much now but construction is progressing on Kim Bokamper’s Sports Bar and Grill on the east side of the Intracoastal at Oakland Park Bridge. Walls are expected to go up in the next few days. An employee at Bokamper’s in Plantation said they are aiming for a September opening but that is [very] tentative. (Does not look like that will happen - see Sept 21 pics at left)
South side, Sept 21

When opened it will be the third Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Broward County; the third is in Miramar.  Another operates in Naples. Kim Bokamper played defensive end and linebacker for the Miami Dolphins, 1977-85.
Construction underway June

With a large footprint, high-profile location and dockage for day tripping boaters, the Fort Lauderdale restaurant will give neighboring Shooter’s a run for its money. It will also breathe much-need life into the North Beach area. It sits across from the vacant lot that was once the site of Yesterday’s, a popular restaurant and nightspot of the 1970s and 80s.

Return to Jane’s Bits for updates. Cheers!
