Egmondt Fine Bakery, open less than six months, already holds a singular place on a list of eateries serving the downtown Fort Lauderdale business and residential communities. The owners, recent transplants from Belgium, bring their flair for European baking to the little café situated at the corner of Broward Boulevard and Federal Highway, adjacent to the Waverly at Las Olas.

Crepes and croissants, pastries and pies – and an array of quiches – sit in scrumptious glory in Egmondt’s refrigerated shelves competing with wonderful sandwiches of housemade breads and other luncheon fare for attention. It’s tough sticking to a diet here but there are healthy options. Their minestrone soup with chicken, served in a clear glass crock, and two colorful salads accompanied by a delicate vinaigrette indicate there is more to Egmondt than sinful sweets.

With thousands of rental units going up a few blocks away, Egmondt is poised for continued success. They cater small events as well as deliver their goodies. It’s a perfect way to impress a new client— or an old boss.

Free garage parking available.
